The first time I heard someone talk about this, it was Ram Dass:
To love someone is to access the source through someone.
To love is to access the source.
Free Will
If you have ever faced very strong emotional situations, you know that emotions can overwhelm us. Our ability to control our emotions is an important component of our social evolution. Many social environments now are particularly careful not to spread hatred or anger. But as a result, these feelings are restrained. And sooner or later, they express themselves, often violently, because they have been restrained for too long.
Letting Go
Emotional control is important for our social cohesion. One of the current criteria in establishing the scale of human social evolution is their ability to behave pleasantly with their neighbors in as many situations as possible. But at the same time, unexpressed emotions generate at best loneliness, at worst a feeling of frustration strong enough to sweep everything away.
Peace
To be aware. When we observe ourselves, we quickly realize that our free will is largely conditioned by our ability to manage our emotions. But in reality, emotional management may not be accessible. Are we sure that it is possible to prevent an emotion from emerging? Do we think we are truly capable of deciding which emotions will pass through us today? On the other hand, what is certain is that we can become aware of what carries us away. And we can also decide to accept these powerful emotional forces. And we can respect that. Respect this dynamic, the result of so many factors that humans are not able to comprehend them all. And perhaps that is what makes the difference between an AI and a human being. An AI may have billions of parameters, but a human being will always have infinitely more. They will always remain unpredictable and surprising.
