Omni-modal hydration

Hydration

Hydration is a valuable practice for most skin types. It gives them elasticity, softness, and plumpness. It has a positive effect on their color, and hydrated skin is, of course, comfortable and resistant to aggressions. Very few skin types are over-hydrated. Incorporating ways to maintain and increase hydration into one's routine is therefore an excellent thing for most skin types.

Water is an essential element of our body, which is composed of 70% to 80% of it. But why do we lack water then? It is true that many skin types are dehydrated, but it is hard to imagine that this is due to a lack of water.

Despite the omnipresence of water in our bodies, the parts of our bodies that store water and the patterns of water circulation in the body are very personal elements. Two people can have sufficient general body hydration, and yet, one of them may show marked skin dehydration.

Having dehydrated skin potentially means skin that will react quickly, or even become fragile in the sun. It is skin that will react less well to external aggressions. Some skin types are so dehydrated that at first glance, one might think of a condition related to the Fire element rather than Water, as the skin becomes very sensitive. But the use of a moisturizer will immediately show signs of soothing, and the Water condition will then be the one to consider.

Omni-modal hydration

Truly affecting the skin's hydration level is much more than just applying a simple moisturizer. First, the regular use of a moisturizer can lead to a phenomenon of "skin laziness," meaning that our skin will get used to being hydrated from the outside and will gradually lose its ability to hydrate itself. To regain an ideal level of hydration, a real lifestyle change is helpful. Diet plays an absolutely essential role here.

Some foods will consume hydration. They are said to be dry because they have a negative influence on the water reserves available to the body in general, and to the skin in particular. Other foods, however, have a hydrating power greater than 80%, meaning greater than the average percentage of water reserves present in a human body. These foods will therefore contribute to the body's hydration.

Chemical and biological phenomena

A program to restore or increase the skin's hydration rate, especially if one wants to address the appearance of wrinkles and marks, for example, requires considering physical and biological phenomena. The most important of these, because it is totally vital, is osmosis. Very simply put, osmosis is a balance of mineral concentration in our body's fluids. By acting on this balance, the body can simply create flows that allow essential nutrients to be transported, and this is the main way the body has at its disposal to distribute and exchange water reserves throughout the entire body. Water uses osmosis to distribute its reserves in the body.
